We built Alpha Deal because we believe the housing shortage is a problem that better technology can help solve. Everyone on this team came from different disciplines — data infrastructure, affordable development, design, engineering — but we share a conviction: a meaningful share of the housing that does not get built fails at the predevelopment stage, not because the sites are bad or the developers are wrong, but because the funding landscape is genuinely complicated and lean teams have limited hours. That felt like a failure we could do something about.
We are not trying to replace the judgment of people who have spent careers in this field. We are trying to extend their reach. We handle the systematic part — which programs apply to a site, how they might stack, what a credible feasibility call looks like — so experienced developers can spend their time on the decisions that still require their expertise and relationships. We think that is a good use of what technology is actually good at. And we think more housing gets built as a result.
